Carers’ Rights: Hospital Admissions and Discharge - 16th January

About Dementia - stock photo 2

An interactive online session aimed at unpaid carers in Scotland, with particular relevance for family and friends who are caring for someone living with dementia. This workshop will also be useful for volunteers and professionals working with carers in Scotland.

In a Carers Scotland survey published in 2023, 60% of carers who had someone discharged from hospital were not informed and involved in decisions about this discharge, and only 20% were asked about their willingness or ability to provide care. (State of Caring 2023: A health and social care crisis for carers in Scotland | Carers UK)

In this workshop, participants will gain an understanding of, and have the opportunity to discuss:

  • Useful considerations during hospital admissions and stays.
  • The rights of carers during the discharge planning process.

This training is free. Sessions are limited to 16 participants. Organisations may send more than one participant: if there is excess demand, a cap of two participants per organisation may be applied. If you would like to organise a video conference session for your whole group at a different time, please email dementiatraining@agescotland.org.uk

The session will take place via video conference (Zoom) and the joining instructions will be sent to you in advance of the session.
