Call for views to guide eye-sight research

People with eye conditions, their carers, and eye health professionals, are being invited to take part in a UK-wide survey to find out what questions about diagnosis, prevention and treatment of sight loss and eye conditions they would like research to answer.

Two million people in the UK live with sight loss or eye conditions and, despite active research, many questions about diagnosis, prevention and treatment remain unanswered.  With funds for future research limited the survey's results are expected to prove invaluable for informing how these are spent.

The survey, the first of its kind, is led by charities and professional bodies interested in eye health and research, including the James Lind Alliance and Age Scotland partner charity Age UK.

Age Scotland spokesperson Doug Anthoney said: "We would encourage people who have a view on where research should go next not to miss this opportunity to have their say.  Completing the survey won't take long and it could make a huge difference to people with sight-loss or eye-conditions in the future."
