Community Connecting
Social connection matters. Socialising improves physical and mental wellbeing, brings us comfort, support and can help us stay connected - ultimately reducing feelings of loneliness and isolation.
As we get older, it can be harder to maintain these connections. Retirement, bereavement or moving somewhere new can leave people feeling increasingly lonely and isolated.
Our research has identified that 218,000 over 50s in Scotland feel lonely all or most of the time, which is why we're here to help.
Our free service
Our Community Connecting service aims to link older people across Scotland up with organisations offering friendship, social activities, health and fitness groups, and events. The possibilities for social connection and friendship are endless!
You'll be paired with a Community Connector volunteer for a period of up to three months, who will learn more about your interests via weekly phone calls - offering information, support, encouragement and a friendly chat.
If you’d like to learn more about Community Connecting, including how to get involved, please call the Age Scotland Helpline on 0800 12 44 222.
Are you part of a group or organisation?
If you would like us to refer new members to your group, we'd be delighted to hear from you.
