Friendship Calls

Words matter. They give us comfort, wrap us in reassurance, and help us stay connected.
As part of our Friendship Services, we make free weekly calls of friendship, companionship and support to older people across Scotland.
Having a conversation can have such a positive impact, and our friendship caller volunteers are on hand to talk about many things. From current interests, hobbies, and previous work life to top-tier biscuits and time travel. The list is endless!
If you’d like to learn more about our friendship services, including how to get involved, please call the Age Scotland Helpline on 0800 12 44 222. With Age Scotland, you are not alone.
It’s great having someone taking the time to pick up the phone and talk to me, we have all sorts of conversations. I'm a blether, I love a good gab. And with a variety of volunteers, I get to have lots of unique conversations.

The service is very very good, I look forward to the chats! The people I chat to are so friendly and we have a little laugh too. I feel a lot better after it.
