Happy New Year from Age Scotland

1 January 2012

Age Scotland would like to wish all its members and supporters a very happy and prosperous New Year.
Charity Chief Executive David Manion said: "At this time of year it's traditional to make resolutions; perhaps to better rise to a challenge, or to make more of an opportunity.  Age Scotland is here to help older people overcome the challenges and maximise the opportunities of later life so our resolution is to do more with and for older people and to make 2012 a successful year of partnership in pursuit of a better, fairer Scotland.
"New Year is also a time for looking back.  Last year we achieved a lot.  We boosted our programme of older people's Regional Assemblies from six events to nine, enabling hundred more older people across Scotland to have their say on the big issues for later life, and on how Age Scotland responds to them.  We took full management control of our network of charity shops and the information Helpline, and commenced major expansions of both.
"This year, challenging though it may be in financial terms, we aim to be bolder and better, using the ground-work done in 2011 as a springboard to develop our services to better meet older people's needs. Don't forget we rely on your continued and very welcome support in this endeavour."
