WASPI Women deserve swift action from government
A new report from the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) says women born in the 1950s affected by changes to the state pension age are owed compensation due to the UK Government failing to adequately communicate changes to women's state pension age.
Fiona Cross, Age Scotland's Director of Advice, Support and Community Services, said:
“The rise to State Pension Age left millions of women in great hardship, and WASPI campaigners have been fighting for many years to address this injustice.
“While it’s reassuring that today’s long-awaited report affirms their right to compensation, the concern is that calls and recommendations will continue to fall on deaf ears at Westminster.
“These women have waited long enough for vindication and can’t afford to wait even longer to be fairly compensated. Now is the time for swift action from the UK Government.”
