Age Scotland welcomes customers back to its Broxburn shop

Age Scotland's popular shop in Broxburn will be reopening its doors to customers on August 3.

The leading charity for older people took the difficult decision to close the West Lothian shop on March 22 due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The decision to close Age Scotland's only shop in Scotland was taken to protect staff, volunteers and shoppers, many of whom are older and might have underlying health conditions which would have put them at greater risk from the virus.

However confirmation from the Scottish Government that retail outlets can reopen with safety precautions in place means that the shop on East Main Street can once again welcome customers.

The shop will open to accept donations on Saturday (August 1) and customers will be welcomed back on Monday (August 3).

Age Scotland chief executive, Brian Sloan, said:

"We are delighted to announce the reopening of our Age Scotland Broxburn charity shop.

"Like all retail outlets, we have faced an extremely challenging period and we are looking forward to welcoming back customers on Monday.

"I would like to thank all the staff and volunteers whose dedication and hard work are essential to the running of the shop. They have shown commitment and support for their community throughout the past four months and worked tirelessly to prepare the shop for reopening with all the necessary safety precautions in place to ensure customers feel comfortable."
