Listen: Care home residents dying 'too soon'
"Coronavirus is ripping the life out of people well before their time and it's not something we should just accept"
New figures have found that more than half of all deaths from coronavirus in Scotland are now happening in care homes.
The figures from the National Records for Scotland, published this week, showed that 338 of the 656 deaths recorded between 20 and 26 April were in care homes.
Adam Stachura, Head of Policy and Communications at Age Scotland, appeared on Radio Scotland to talk about COVID-19 deaths in care homes, which he described as 'desperately sad'.
He reminded listeners that every life lost was someone's brother, mother, granny or friend and called for guarantees that care home staff are given full personal protective equipment in order to minimise the risk to themselves and protect their vulnerable residents.
