Broxburn Charity Shop to close

22 March 2020

Age Scotland, the national charity for older people, has taken the difficult decision to close the doors of its charity shop in Broxburn due to the ongoing Coronavirus outbreak.

The charity has announced today (Sunday 22 March) that the shop on East Main Street in Broxburn, its only shop in Scotland, will remain closed until further notice.

Chief Executive, Brian Sloan, said: “It is with a heavy heart that we announce the Age Scotland Broxburn charity shop is now closed until further notice.

“As Scotland’s leading national charity for older people, we have a duty of care and responsibility to our staff, volunteers and shoppers, many of whom are older and might have pre-existing conditions that could put them at greater risk at this difficult time.

“I would like to thank all volunteers and staff, whose dedication and hard work has been essential to the running of the shop and who have shown continued commitment and passion to their community and Age Scotland as a charity, qualities that will allow us to work through this difficult time and prepare for re-opening when possible.

"In the meantime, Age Scotland’s work supporting older people goes on as we focus on providing older people, their families and carers with the most up to date information and advice as Scotland responds to Coronavirus.”

Age Scotland’s free helpline to older people, their families and carers is available on 0800 12 44 222 and their website is regularly updated with the latest information and advice about coronavirus www.age.scot/coronavirus
