Charity urges older drivers to check licenses
According to figures from the DVLA there are two million photocard driving licences that are now out of date across the UK, an estimated 167,000 of which are in Scotland, with a further 2.6 million driving licence photos due to expire this year. People with an expired driving licence could be facing a penalty of up to £1,000.
Logan Steele, General Manager at Age Scotland Enterprises said: "Driving is a great way to maintain independence and freedom. We're encouraging motorists to check their driving licences haven't expired and make sure they aren't risking a £1,000 fine. This is particularly important for drivers who are 70 plus as their licences require renewing every three years - helpfully for motorists of this age renewals are free.
